Overview
Dominion Ash was incorporated in 2000 and is a private Canadian company located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Dominion Ash is a marketer of premium quality fly ash products to the cement industry and a marketer of its proprietary MCB technology for the beneficiation of coal combustion product fly ash worldwide.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive technical and product marketing services to the CCP fly ash industry and ready mix concrete markets worldwide.

History
• Formed in 2000 as a business vehicle to commercialize a new technology for the beneficiation of fly ash and to market ash products throughout eastern Canada
• 2000 – 2002 Developed eastern Canadian market and became the principal supplier of ash products east of Quebec
• 2002 – 2003 Acquired the Microwave Carbon Burnout (MCB) process and was joined by Dr. Tranquilla, the MCB inventor and developer
• 2003 Filed international patent applications for MCB and another microwave process for mercury treatment
• 2003 Established a marketing agreement with ADA/ES, a Colorado based company specializing in flue gas treatment technologies, for participation in a US DOE Clean Coal Technology project
• 2004 Signed a marketing agreement with The SEFA Group, a major US ash marketer with primary focus on the southeastern Atlantic seaboard region

Our Team
Dominion’s principals have extensive experience in the development, operation and management of both private and public companies including product utilization, marketing and technology development & commercialization.

In addition to the two key principals, Dominion Ash has recruited two other leading professionals from strategic positions within the North American fly ash and cement industries. These well-established individuals will be prominent in making a quick penetration into the eastern US market region as well as in providing key technical services directly to the market clientele.

James MacLean P. Eng.

James MacLean has extensive experience in the fly ash industry, first as the Coordinator of Byproduct Utilization for New Brunswick Electric Power Corporation and most recently since 1997 as a direct marketer of CCP fly ash products throughout eastern Canada. As President and GM of Dominion Ash, Mr. MacLean has been responsible for the development and operation of ash markets throughout Atlantic Canada, including ash import, distribution and negotiation of transportation contracts. As a member of an Executive team, he has assisted in development of marketing strategy, Business Plans, financing activities and partnering negotiations associated with business expansion to include Microwave Carbon Burnout technology. Also as a member of an Executive team, he has participated in technical and trade symposia and international conferences.

James Tranquilla PhD, PEng

Dr. Tranquilla has over 30 years experience directly related to new technology development, academic research and industrial research, consulting and management activities in the areas of microwave heating, electromagnetic modeling, antenna design, EMI/EMC, communication and satellite navigation systems. Industrial clients include both government agencies and commercial firms such as NASA, Canadian Hydrographic Service, Magnavox, Rockwell International, and major projects such as the TOPEX satellite and the Canadian Patrol Frigate Program. Dr. Tranquilla has published over 150 technical papers and one textbook, has several international patents related to industrial microwave power applications. He has designed and presented numerous courses in the area of electromagnetics and is listed in several biographical listings including citation in Great Canadian Success Stories (1991) by the Canadian Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council. Since 1976 Dr. Tranquilla has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick and in 1997 devoted full time to the development and management of several new technology corporations.

As the President and CEO of EMR Microwave Technology Corporation, Dr. Tranquilla gained wide experience in technical program development, Intellectual Property development and commercialization, management, corporate negotiations and all aspects of public company operation including financing and regulatory issues.

In 2002, Dr. Tranquilla became a partner in Dominion Ash CCP Limited where his responsibilities include commercialization of technology, business and project financing, negotiation of strategic industrial partnerships and technical program management.
